Contract to Hire - Corp-to-Corp:

Will be working on contract with or through another corporation with the option to hire.

Example:
Assume that X's visa status is H1B or green card and employer is ABC. X has attended an interview on 15th December 2004 with client MNO. MNO informed ABC that X has been selected and will be working with MNO as a contractor for 6 months from 1st Jan 2005. Then he will be hired as a permanent employee in MNO from 1st July 2005. This happens when X's visa status is either H1B or green card. When X is on H1B status, MNO has to process a new H1B.

Contract to Hire - W2:

Will be working as a contract W-2 employee for his company with the option to hire.

Example:
Assume that X's visa status is green card and employer is ABC. X has attended an interview on 15th December 2004 with client MNO. MNO informed ABC that X has been selected and will be working with MNO as a contractor for 6 months from 1st Jan 2005. Then he will be hired as a permanent employee in MNO from 1st July 2005. This happens when X's visa status is green card.

Contract to Hire - Independent:

Will be working as a contract 1099 employee for the company with the option to hire.

Example:
Assume that X's visa status is green card X has attended an interview on 15th December 2004 with client MNO. MNO informed X that he has been selected and will be working with MNO as an independent for 6 months from 1st Jan 2005. Then he will be hired as a permanent employee in MNO from 1st July 2005. This happens when X's visa status is green card.
