Contract - Corp-to-Corp:
Will be working on contract with or through another corporation.
Example:
Assume that X's visa status is H1B or green card and employer is ABC. X has attended an interview on 15th December 2004 with client MNO. MNO informed ABC that X has been selected and will be working with MNO as a contractor for 6 months from 1st Jan 2005. MNO pays contract amount to ABC. This happens when X's visa status is either H1B or green card. ABC pays salary to X and withheld X's taxes.
Contract - W2:
Will be working as a contract W-2 employee for the company.
Example:
Assume that X's visa status is H1B or green card and X has attended an interview on 15th December 2004 with client MNO. MNO informed ABC that X has been selected and will be working with MNO as a contractor from 1st Jan 2005 for 1 year. This happens when X's visa status is H1B or green card. MNO pays salary to X and withheld X's taxes.
Contract - Independent:
Will be working as a contract 1099 employee for the company.
Example:
Assume that X's visa status is H1B or green card and X has attended an interview on 15th December 2004 with client MNO. MNO informed ABC that X has been selected and will be working with MNO as a contractor on 1099 from 1st Jan 2005. This happens when X's visa status is H1B or green card. MNO doesn't withheld taxes and X has to pay taxes.
