What is a H4 Visa?
H4 is a dependent visa issued to the spouse and unmarried children(below 21 years of age) of a H1B visa holder. The spouse and children are allowed to stay in the United States in the H4 category for as long as the H-1B professional's visa status is valid. (i.e) The VISA expiry date will be same for both H1B and H4. H4 Visa eligibility: The H1-B visa holder’s spouse and unmarried children under the age of 21 are eligible for H4. Parents, relations of H1B visa holder are not eligible for getting H4 visa. They should apply for B2 visitor visa. Eligibility to Work:A person who is holding a H4 visa is not eligible to work in USA. H4 visa status could be changed to H1B status by getting sponsorship (job offer) from an employer. Passport Validity:A person who wish to apply for a H4 visa should possess a valid passport. Each applicant, including children(meeting H4 Visa's age requirements) must possess an individual passport.
